Meet Karen (Video)

Karen is the psychology team administrator with 10 years of experience in medical practice administration following a high profile career as an Olympic swimmer - winning a Silver medal for Australia in the 1984 Olympics as well as a collection of Bronze and Gold medals from Commonwealth and World Masters games in 1986 and 2009. She currently retains a number of Australian swimming records. Married for 24 years with daughters Karen moved to the Sunshine Coast from Culburra Beach, 3 hours south of Sydney. Karen says that spending time with her family is the most important part of her life and that she loves the beach life: swimming, surfing and swim training keeps her fit.

Making Appointments

To make an appointment, please phone Karen on 07 5309 6128. Alternatively, you may also Request an Appointment or fill out the relevant intake form below and email it to us. Either way we will be in touch as soon as possible.

Client forms

Once you have called the clinic and spoken to the receptionist you will be asked to fill out either a child or adult intake form. You can either download the form here and return to us via email at info@scpc.net.au or print it out and bring with you to the first appointment. This will save you valuable time at the first initial consultation.

Payment & Funding Packages

Payment is required at the time of your appointment, and we have eftpos and hicaps facilities at the clinic to make this process easier for you to claim your rebate.
Cancellation Policy
Clients who fail to provide at least 24 hours notice to cancel will incur a fee of 50% of the cost. Clients who do not provide any notice, will incur a fee of 100% and will not be able to access further service until the fee is paid. Clients who repeatedly cancel, will be placed back on the waiting list. Please note that the HCWA package does not pay for cancellation fees, and you will need to pay this yourself.
Mental Health Care Rebate
If your GP deems that you are eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan you will receive a rebate of $84.80 per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. You will be required to go and see your GP after the sixth session for a review, another 4 sessions may be approved and it will be at the discretion of your GP. Please bring a copy of the plan with you to the initial consultation, or ask your GP to forward to the clinic. Please ask the reception about our current fee structure to determine your out of pocket expenses.
Private Health Cover
Many private health companies cover psychology services under their extras policy. You will need to contact them to find out.
Helping Children with Autism Package
HCWA allows families with children with and ASD to access funding to pay for counselling and some group therapy, and relevant resources.
Better Start for Children with a Disability
